The Science of Black Autonomy

Delanyism is a Black American doctrine of identity, obligation, and continuity, rooted in shared historical origin and aimed at ensuring the long-term survival and prosperity of Black Americans as a people.

Why Delanyism?

Black Americans have spent generations responding to immediate problems while many of the institutions that determine our long-term future remain outside of our control.

Delanyism asks a different question:

What would Black Americans build if we planned for our people 25, 50, and 100 years into the future?

The goal is not separation from American society or isolation from the world. The goal is the organized capacity to protect our interests, develop our people, preserve our identity, create institutions, and pass something stronger to the generations that follow.

What Black Autonomy Requires

Identity

Know who we are as a people, understand our shared historical origin, and preserve our identity across generations.

Economic Autonomy

Build ownership, capital, businesses, land, and institutions that can increase our collective economic power.

Educational Autonomy

Develop and transmit the knowledge, skills, and disciplines necessary for individual and collective advancement.

Cultural Autonomy

Produce, preserve, and control the stories, values, symbols, and institutions that shape our culture.

Technological Autonomy

Build the skills, infrastructure, and ownership necessary to compete and prosper in the technological future.

Political Autonomy

Develop the organized capacity to protect and advance Black American interests through political power.

We are trying to grow from clicks to bricks.

Delanyism is not intended to remain an internet philosophy.

The long-term objective is to turn ideas into people, people into organized capacity, and organized capacity into durable Black American institutions.

Education.

Media.

Businesses.

Land.

Capital.

Technology.

Institutions.

The measure of Delanyism will ultimately be what we are able to build.
